Nets has acquired a controlling interest in Signaturgruppen with an option on taking over the entire company. This acquisition opens up additional opportunities for Nets in the international market for eID systems and digital signature solutions.
"We are investing in Signaturgruppen because they have extensive specialist knowledge of digital signature solutions, a strong product range and a great deal of experience in creating solutions based on the NemID infrastructure. Going forward, we will be able to benefit from their expertise and solutions for further development and sales of our eID solutions to new and existing markets in Europe," according to Niels Gotfredsen, Senior Vice President of Nets in charge of eSecurity Services.
"Signaturgruppen has contributed to the development of digital signatures and NemID infrastructure for many years now. We are currently a key partner for a large number of customers, providing daily technical support and maintaining business-critical solutions. Now, working closely with Nets, we hope to be able to take our solutions to a new level and remove even more barriers to harnessing the potential of digital signatures and NemID," says Morten Storm Petersen, CEO of Signaturgruppen.
Since its inception in 2006, Signaturgruppen has built a large portfolio of digital signature and NemID solutions which are used on a daily basis by 4.6 million Danes. Signaturgruppen is definitely at the cutting edge especially for the commercial aspect of NemID, where they have advised and assisted most of Denmark's regions and municipalities as well as a whole raft of companies in implementing and using NemID tailored to their own systems, processes and needs.
"We are planning to be able to offer attractive NemID solutions for private and public-sector companies alike, and with the influx of expertise from Signaturgruppen, we are in an even stronger competitive position to create innovative new solutions for private companies, municipalities and regions. Customers will not notice any difference with the new ownership structure on a day-to-day basis because Signaturgruppen will continue to exist as an independent unit based in Aarhus. However, in the longer term, it is hoped that the closer access to influence and further develop Nets' infrastructure will result in new and even better solutions from Signaturgruppen.
