Nets 3-D Secure for Dankort, Visa, Mastercard and Forbrugsforeningen

The common term for these security solutions is 3-D Secure. For Visa, the solution is called "Visa Secure", for Mastercard the solution is called "Mastercard Identity Check" and for Dankort the solution is called "Dankort Secured by Nets".

You can be asked to verify your payment when shopping online. Most Danish issued payment cards* can be used in the 3-D Secure solution.

You can verify your purchase in two ways:

MitID app. When shopping online you will be asked to open MitID app and approve your payment.
MitID code display / audio code reader. When shopping online you will be asked to enter a one-time passcode from your MitID code display / audio code reader and your personal password

SMS + password. You will receive a one-time password on your mobile phone via SMS, which must be entered together with a personal eCom password. Create the eCom password on this page. If your mobile number is registered with your payment card, you will receive an SMS when shopping online. In the SMS you can see the purchase amount, the merchant, and the one-time password for the purchase you are about to approve. You must enter the one-time password and eCom password to approve the payment. You must make sure that the information in the SMS correlates to the purchase details. If this is not the case, you must not enter the passwords. You must never share your passwords.

Protect all your passwords
Do not share the one-time code you receive via text message in connection with online purchases to anyone. Treat the one-time code and password like your personal PIN code.
Protect all your personal passwords to your MitID, homebank etc.

Phishing e-mails
There are criminals who use 'phishing' e-mails to commit fraud by tricking cardholders into disclosing card information and other personal informations.

It is important for us to underline that Nets never sends out e-mails asking you to disclose your card data (PIN code, card security code or one-time password). All communication concerning your payment cards will come directly from your bank.

Why is the 3-D Secure solution not needed in every purchase?

It can vary from country to country and with different purchase amounts, amongst other factors regulated by the authorities.

Can I change my mobile number and eCom password again later?

You can change your mobile number and eCom password anytime by going through the process again.

How do I enrol a corporate card?

The corporate card should be enrolled by using the MitID. Please be aware that the MitID used should be the owner of the card.

I have received a text with a one-time code but I am currently not trying to make an online purchase, how should I react?

You should never share or type in your personal information if you are not in the middle of a process that requires verification (i.e. online purchase or registering your mobile no/password). We recommend that you block your payment card if you receive a one-time code for a transaction that you do not recognise, if the last four digits in the masked card number presented in the text corresponds with the last four digits in your card number.

Can I enrol a foreign mobile number?

Yes, you do not need a Danish mobile number for the 3-D Secure solution. When enrolling the mobile number, you need to enter the country code and the mobile number in two different columns. Do not use "+" or other symbols in front of the country code.

Note: Some countries block SMS from foreign countries, and SMS from Nets can therefore not be received by some foreign mobile numbers. In this case the recommendation is to use a Danish mobile number or MitID – both should work, even when you are abroad.

How long is the one-time code valid for?

The one-time code is valid for ten minutes after being sent by Nets. If you are unable to use the code within ten minutes, initiate the purchase again.

I do not receive the SMS code

Instead you can use MitID.

In the window of your purchase window, you can click on the button "MitID" and approve your online purchase that way.
