Meet the employees

Meet Marte and Jon Petter

Nets employees share many values, such as great enthusiasm, curiosity and big ambitions for our organisation and the service we deliver.

Meet some of our colleagues:

Marte, Java developer

Jon Petter, Corporate Sales Concepts

Jon Petter - Sales Manager

Jon Petter Gundersen, Corporate Sales Concept

Jon Petter has been with Nets for 3 years,
but he has already seen a lot and learned
even more.

– I started at BBS in Oslo in 2008 as a Business Trainee. I spent 16 months as a trainee in various departments, facing many new challenges and working with many different people. When my trainee period was complete, I continued in a position in business strategy. I recently got the opportunity to take up the position of team leader for Corporate Sales Concept, working with corporate CRM, sales and customer processes.

What do you like the most about Nets?
– One of the main reasons why I enjoy working at Nets is our great ambition. It takes initiative and a lot of drive
– In my three years at Nets, I have always felt that I am working at the forefront of the industry.
for us to achieve our shared objectives. Working closely with dedicated people allows me to develop my own skills and realise my own full potential.
– The Nordic perspective, you could say, is part of this development, too. To me, working in different markets and cultures across the company is a huge source of inspiration. Also, the sheer size of the company is attractive. There is always an interesting new customer, a new solution or a new market on the horizon. In my three years at Nets, I have always felt that I am working at the forefront of the industry.

What do you value most in your everyday work?
– Hm… one important issue for me is that, when we say that being a team player is important, it’s not something that we just say: it’s a fact. Right now, I’m a part of several teams that cross different business units and countries, which I find very inspiring. In addition, I would like to highlight all the skilled colleagues I have the opportunity to work with every day.

Marte - Java Developer

Marte Horne: Java Developer, Invoice Solutions

Marte's most important developing tool is freedom.

– I first applied for the job because I wanted to work with critical systems on a large scale, and still do. And this is exactly what I have been doing for six years now. Nets’ customers are the largest in northern Europe so almost everything we do affects thousands of people. This means that we have to be extremely thorough and pay great attention to each and every detail, no matter how small it is. It can be extremely challenging, but it is also very satisfying to know that our clients get the best and most reliable solution possible.

How about processes? It sounds like you need to be extremely structured?
– I have a high degree of freedom.
– Well … as a developer you have to be structured and logically minded, of course. I have a very high degree of freedom to do what I think is necessary to solve a task or meet a target. We mainly use Java in our everyday development and we work together to find the best way to implement new features. We try to be as agile as possible and use Scrum and Kanban as one the methods. We can also apply to take part in ‘Nets 20%’ based on certain criteria. Employees in AD&AM P&I may then use up to 20 per cent of their working hours on developing new ideas or processes. It’s not just about having the time – knowing that management and colleagues encourage freedom and initiatives is very important to me.

Developers and programmers are very often described as unapproachable nerds hiding behind their computers. How does this description fit you and your colleagues?
– Ha-ha … I would be lying if I said that this description of ‘my tribe’ is new to me. But, seriously speaking, as a developer at Nets, it’s impossible to live up to this myth. We do a lot of our work in teams and everybody is invited to help and speak their mind. This is because most of our projects are very complex and therefore need input from all kinds of people and experts. Also, I have a lot of contact and meetings with our clients. So, at Nets we are actually somewhat the direct opposite of the traditional description of developers.
