GlobalConnect delivers large Scandinavian data network to Nets

GlobalConnect – Denmark’s leading alternative provider of professional networking solutions – is now delivering a large Scandinavian data network to financial services company Nets. Nets is the result of a merger of PBS of Denmark and BBS and Teller of Norway, and the company is now one of the most significant northern European players in its field.

Excellent security and uptime

The new international network solution is largely based on GlobalConnect’s own fibre-optic broadband, which extends from Denmark into parts of Sweden. GlobalConnect’s network crosses both Oresund and Kattegat with submarine cables which make it possible for GlobalConnect to provide Nets with a Scandinavian data network including several alternative data stream routes.

This gives Nets excellent security and uptime on the data network:“Just as our customers impose high demands on Nets for accessibility, we too are very much dependent on having a stable data network connecting our Nordic business units. We have chosen GlobalConnect because they have shown, with great flexibility and openness, that they have the capacity to handle such a very large and important international task,” says Kim Koldkjær of Nets.

The data network is now in commercial operation and links Nets’ offices in Copenhagen, Stockholm and Oslo with data speeds of up to 1 gigabit per second.

“The idea behind the network solution is for all of Nets’ facilities and employees to have access to the same IT services and the same high quality, whether they are in Oslo, Stockholm or Copenhagen. At the same time, this solution gives Nets the opportunity to control and administer its own data network autonomously, without the need for any IP address coordination with the supplier. This is because we provide a solution via Carrier Ethernet, which is entirely transparent to the applications and services Nets chooses to use,” says Peter Olsen, CTO of GlobalConnect.
